GWDG Remote Support

AnyDesk is a frequently requested and widely used software solution that enables IT staff to provide support to users. This remote support software allows remote access to workstations to assist with IT issues. The GWDG makes AnyDesk available to employees of the University of Göttingen’s institutes, the University Medical Center Göttingen, and its own staff for remote support with IT issues.

The AnyDesk client is a small program available for various operating systems that can be launched immediately by users seeking help after downloading it. No installation is required. Only incoming connections can be accepted on the device.

Data transmission to and from the other party’s support client is encrypted and, whenever possible, remains within the local network. The connection is established via AnyDesk’s cloud servers. These are only involved in the data transmission itself if it is not possible to transmit the data within the local network. Encryption is “end-to-end” and remains in effect at all times.

After launching the program, your Remote ID will be displayed in the AnyDesk window. Please provide this ID to support, who will then connect directly to your workstation, view your desktop, and control your computer. Control of your workstation is only possible if you have provided the Remote ID and as long as the GWDG Remote Support client is open. You can disconnect the connection yourself at any time. As long as you do not start the program, no one can access your computer through it.
